Crane Engineer (worldwide projects)

International distributor of mobile cranes, materials handling and lifting equipment with offices in the UK, Ireland and Russia requires a professional specialist crane engineer who is capable of supervising and managing remotely based engineers; dealing with suppliers, customers & manufacturers and effectively resolving technical problems.


Main Responsibilities & Role – reporting to the UK International operations office:

  • Extensive travelling will be required throughout the whole of Russia and the whole of Europe.
  • New machine specification, inspection and quality control, and reporting of new mobile cranes at the manufacturers site before machines are shipped
  • Working closely with the Russian mobile crane aftersales service teams to manage, supervise and set top quality preventative maintenance and repair standards to ensure the best customer satisfaction and retention
  • Working closely with manufacturers to ensure correct build specification and quality; ensuring shipping needs and timings are anticipated and met
  • Understand technically, all popular models of machines sold – comprehensive product and model training will be provided
  • Monitoring and measurement of group warranty claims and payment co-ordination – to ensure that financial losses are either minimised or removed altogether
  • Identifying, raising and resolving a range of service issues with manufacturers
  • Working with the UK and Russian management and engineering teams to understand manufacturer service bulletins, and to manage all rework programs
  • Working with the Russian management teams to constantly review and improve the customer service offering
  • Attend regular review meetings with manufacturing partners and to raise and overcome a range of service (parts and technical) issues


Required Experience

  • Will have worked for a mobile crane manufacturer or authorised dealer and have been technically involved with the diagnosis and successful repair in all aspects of crane preventative maintenance and repair.
  • Will be able to demonstrate the ability, confidence and capacity to supervise, manage, train and motivate technically competent seasoned and experienced engineers
  • Have a good understanding of the crane industry with proven experience and knowledge of ‘mobile cranes’ such as; TEREX mobile hydraulic cranes, SENNEBOGEN material handling machines, telescopic cranes, rope excavators/cranes and JCB wheeled and tracked excavators, wheeled loading shovels, compactors, generators, telescopic handlers and mini excavators.



  • Successfully attended a nationally and internationally recognised crane engineering apprenticeship i.e. City & Guilds, HNC, ONC, NVQ or equivalent nationally / internationally recognised and documented crane engineering qualifications
  • Full clean UK/European/International car driving licence



  • Must fluently speak, read and write English. (Fluency or a working knowledge of the Russian region and language would be a distinct advantage).

Extensive travelling is a requisite of this role (throughout the whole of Russia, Europe, Kazakhstan and parts of America). Applicants MUST be prepared to travel and spend long periods of time based in Russia. It is likely that in the future this person may actually be based in the European part of Russia
