Our client are in the pumps and fluid handling systems sector – they design, manufacture and service their equipment in a variety of sectors across the globe.

The products of the company include pumps, valves, mechanical seals and related services. The markets served include petroleum, power (nuclear & fossil), chemical processing and general industry services where the movement and control of fluids are critical. Customers are both in the public and private sectors.


They are responsible for sales, engineering, manufacture, assembly and testing of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps and pump packages to mainly petrochemical, power and chemical industry, as well as Mechanical seal design, manufacture and repair.


The Nottinghamshire facility performs high quality pump repairs, engineered upgrades and field service for all aspects of the Flowserve Pump business but mainly covering the Petrochemical, Power, Water and general industries.



 The Engineer will support the engineering functions specifically the electrical aspects along with the mechanical issues on a wide range of pumping equipment. The work could be carried out in the Nottinghamshire facility or on customer premises that will include, but not be limited to, factory sites, chemical facilities, pumping stations, refineries, oil rigs and other plant installations. The work entails, but not limited to:


  • Completion of applicable reports in an electronic format suitable for submittal to internal and external customers.
  • You will be overseeing existing and new condition monitoring contracts with regard to improving measuring techniques and report writing efficiency.
  • The incumbent should be qualified to degree level or demonstrate abilities due to experience in either mechanical or electrical engineering discipline, however will have strong knowledge of both areas.
  • Candidates should be familiar with alignment, vibration and ancillary pumping equipment. Root cause analysis is a requirement.
  • Pump design knowledge is a requirement as you will be troubleshooting and looking at upgrading existing equipment.
  • Electrical knowledge (high voltage) is required to support the team on electrical diagnosis and facilitate repairs. This knowledge should include electrical switching and HV motor winding.
  • A good knowledge of pumps of all kinds, together with knowledge of mechanical seals, piping systems and other pump related equipment. They should be capable of working on their own initiative with the minimum of supervision.
  • Candidates must be flexible to travel at short notice, work extra hours when the need arises and be prepared to work away from their home base for periods of time. You will also be prepared to travel abroad if required.
  • A good knowledge of the requisite health and safety requirements and be capable of working within clients ‘permit to work systems.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal skills are required as the job entails report writing and dialogue with customers and service administration.
  • A good knowledge of and the ability to use a PC and related software packages are essential. This includes Word, Excel and email. You will also be using other dedicated technical IT packages.
