An opportunity has presented itself for a Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias and good all round workshop skills to work a day shift!
Working in the Maintenance and Engineering Team you will be responsible for maintaining and improving extrusion and ancillary equipment in line with routine maintenance schedules. Reacting to break downs/repairs with machining skills to reproduce from samples simple items on a Lathe and Milling machine.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, key elements of the role include mechanical maintenance and project work – simple repairs and diagnostics on a reactive basis.
Project work includes improvements to the machinery and making parts (conventional machining skills essential: NC Machines; Colchester Lathe & Pinnacle Milling Machine). Welding skills would also be helpful as there is a MIG weld kit onsite.
This is a busy role as they only have a small team and consists of a Manager, Electrical Engineer & a Mechanical Engineer.
The day shift consists of working 0800 – 16.30 hours and some overtime available, normally around 2 Saturdays per month working from 0800 until 1400 hrs, although overtime is not guaranteed!

INDICATORS OF SUCCESS:
Maintenance of mechanical equipment
Mechanical awareness of all equipment on site
Respond to breakdowns and fault finding where necessary
Repair and maintain printers, Pneumatic systems, Hydraulic systems and Electro Mechanical Systems, pumps, simple drive trains, compressed air systems and other mechanical equipment
Problem solving of both mechanical problems
Complete Preventative Plant Maintenance (PPM) tasks
General site maintenance
Maintenance of all fabric of building
Installation of machine and ancillary services
Mechanical Repair/manufacture of parts
General Fitting
Basic machining-up to terms of reference
Welding repair and fabricate parts as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
You will have a C&G mechanical qualification(s) or equivalent with and mechanical bias and basic electrical knowledge. Experience in fitting, fabrication, use of a Lathe and Vertical milling machine is required together with working in a manufacturing environment is essential. Experience of welding, bench fitting skills, marking, measuring and assembly of fabricated parts together with assisting in plant maintenance as and when required would be beneficial.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
You will need to be self-sufficient in overcoming a problem and be able to prioritise workloads in a logical manner. You will need to be able to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative, pro-active, self-motivated, good attention to detail, enjoy problem solving, possess good communication skills being able to liaise with other departments, work well under pressure and have good time keeping and attendance, with the flexibility of working within a small Engineering/Maintenance department.
In return my client offers a basic salary between £24000 – £26000 depending on experience, there is free on site parking and the working environment is clean and warm!
This role is easily commutable from Market Harborough, Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Hinckley, Coalville.
